Yaw, Hamm Announce $600,000 in School Improvement Funding Awarded in Lycoming County

HARRISBURG -State Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) and State Rep. Joe Hamm (R-84) today announced $600,000 in state funding has been awarded to the Jersey Shore Area School District in Lycoming County for upgrades to Jersey Shore Area High School's HVAC system. The funding was considered at today's Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) meeting and approved through the Authority's Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program (PSFIG).

"It is critical that we support efforts to improve aging infrastructure in many of our local schools, some of which haven't seen significant upgrades in decades," Yaw said. "The funding approved today will be incredibly impactful for the school. I'm thankful to Rep. Hamm for working with me to secure this funding."

"This money will allow Jersey Shore Area School District to make critical upgrades to the high school's HVAC system," Hamm stated. "I applaud the district for their proactive approach to maintaining their infrastructure. I was pleased to work with Sen. Yaw to secure this funding for Jersey Shore Area School District."

The funding approved today will be used to replace the ventilation system in the Career and Technical Education building and maintenance shop at the high school. This critical upgrade will reduce fire risk and improve air quality throughout the buildings.

The Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program (PSFIG) provides grants to public school districts and area career and technical schools for eligible facility improvement projects. The Program is administered by the Department of Community and Economic Development under the direction of the CFA.
