Celebrate Texas Archives Month with Free Poster and Website

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Austin, TX - October is national and Texas Archives Month! The theme for Texas Archives Month 2024 is Preserving Texas Newspapers. Newspapers provide information about local communities across decades and centuries, offer the who, what, when and where of history and document the details about issues of the day.

The Texas Archives Month webpage links to helpful guides for newspaper research and offers online resources for access to Texas newspapers. Download your own copy of the Texas Archives Month poster and learn more at: www.tsl.texas.gov/archivesmonth.

Texas archival repositories are invited to submit their planned Texas Archives Month activities via https://bit.ly/TXArchivesMonth24 for inclusion on the online calendar -and Texans are encouraged to visit the page to find Archive Month exhibits, events, and more: www.tsl.texas.gov/archivesmonth.

The Texas Historical Records Advisory Board and Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) are also offering professional development opportunities, preservation assessments and more throughout October for archives professionals. About the Texas Historical Records Advisory Board (THRAB):
THRAB serves as an advisory body for historical records planning and supports efforts to preserve and provide access to archival collections throughout the state. Funding for THRAB is provided by the National Historical Publications Records Commission, the grant-making arm of the National Archives and Records Administration. The state archivist is appointed by the governor to preside over the nine-member board.
