16^th Judicial Circuit Court participates in National Adoption Day

On November 26, 2024, the 16^th Judicial Circuit Court for the County of Macomb will take part in National Adoption Day to celebrate a family for every child in courts across the State and Nation. Michigan Supreme Court Justice David Viviano an ardent supporter of Macomb County Families will join Chief Circuit Court Judge James Biernat Jr. and Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Teri Dennings to finalize adoptions for three families. Adoption finalization hearings are normally closed to the public, but for this special occasion and with consent of the adopting families, the public may bear witness and take part in adoption day. In 2024, the Macomb County Adoption Department will receive approximately 135 petitions for adoption, of which 45% are permanent court ward adoptions, which means a child's parents' parental rights have been terminated. The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. on the 3rd Floor of the Macomb County Circuit Court. Thank you to all of those adoptive families across the State and Nation.
