Interstate 80 Construction Update for Sierra Corridor

PLACER/NEVADA/SIERRA COUNTIES - Caltrans is reminding motorists of various lane and ramp closures in multiple locations along Interstate 80 (I-80) as several projects and emergency repairs continue in Placer, Nevada and Sierra counties.
Emergency repair work is starting to wrap up for the season, but construction continues on major projects and motorists still may experience delays up to a maximum of two hours and are encouraged to factor in additional travel times along the I-80 Sierra corridor. Here is the breakdown for next week:
Eastbound I-80
  • Placer/Nevada bridge preservation project near Magra, lane closures will be in place from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. Monday, October 14 through Thursday, October 17. Work is also scheduled from 10 p.m. Friday, October 18 to 8 a.m. Saturday, October 19.
  • Monte Vista Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Monte Vista and Drum Forebay, lane and ramp closures will be in place around the clock beginning at 6 a.m. Monday, October 14 through 10 a.m. Friday, October 18. Work is also scheduled from 7 p.m. Friday, October 18 to 10 a.m. Saturday, October 19.
  • Yuba Pass Separation Overhead Bridge Project between Yuba Gap and the junction with State Route 20 (SR-20), lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, October 14 through Thursday, October 17. Work is also scheduled from 6 a.m. to noon Friday, October 18.
  • Placer/Nevada bridge preservation project near Crystal Lake, lane closures will be in place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, October 14 through Thursday, October 17. Work is scheduled to end at 6 a.m. Friday, October 18.
  • Soda Springs Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Troy and Soda Springs, lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday, October 13 and around the clock beginning at 6 a.m. Monday, October 14 through noon Friday, October 18. Work is also scheduled from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, October 19.
Westbound I-80
  • Westbound I-80 restriping project between the CHP Truck Scales and State Route 267, lane closures will be in place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, October 14 through Thursday, October 17.
  • Emergency Repairs Location 4
    • Between the Old Ag Station and Donner Pass Road, lane and ramp closures will be in place from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Wednesday, October 16 and Thursday, October 17.
    • Between Donner Summit Rest Area and Castle Peak, lane and ramp closures will be in place from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Tuesday, October 15.
  • Soda Springs Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Soda Springs and Troy, lane closures will be in place around the clock beginning at 6 a.m. Tuesday, October 15 through 6 p.m. Friday, October 18.
  • Placer/Nevada bridge preservation project near Crystal Lake, lane closures will be in place from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday, October 14 through Thursday, October 17. Work is scheduled to end at 7 a.m. Friday, October 18.
  • Yuba Pass Separation Overhead Bridge Project between the junction with SR-20 and Yuba Gap, lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, October 14 through Thursday, October 17. Work is also scheduled from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, October 18.
  • Emergency Repairs Location 2 between Emigrant Gap and Nyack, lane closures will be in place from 5 p.m. Friday, October 18 to 7 a.m. Saturday, October 19.
  • Placer/Nevada bridge preservation project near Blue Canyon, lane closures will be in place from 5 p.m. Monday, October 14 to 7 a.m. Tuesday, October 15.
  • Emergency Repairs Location 2 between Blue Canyon and Whitmore, lane and ramp closures will be in place from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, October 14 through Friday, October 18.
  • Monte Vista Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Drum Forebay and Monte Vista, lane and ramp closures will be in place around the clock from 6 a.m. Monday, October 14 through 7 p.m. Saturday, October 19.
  • Placer/Nevada bridge preservation project
    • Near Alta, lane closures will be in place from 9 p.m. Friday, October 18 to 7 a.m. Saturday, October 19.
    • Near Magra, lane closures will be in place from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. Monday, October 14 through Thursday, October 17.

The extended lane closures will help to minimize the duration of the work and improve workers' safety. For more information on each project visit Caltrans District 3 Current Projects. The schedule is subject to change or be delayed due to weather, availability of materials or other unexpected events.

Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to "Be Work Zone Alert" and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
