Sidewalk & Driveway Closures Along Marina Bay Drive Due to Emergency Sewer Line Repairs

A leak was recently discovered in a 50-year-old sanitary sewer force main near Marina Bay Drive in the area of Clear Creek High School. Although this sewer main is slated for replacement in an upcoming Capital Improvement Project, the leak requires immediate emergency repairs. If not addressed, sewage services for most of the east side of League City will be impacted.

Crews are mobilizing in the coming days to stage pipes and begin the installation of the bypass pumping process. This process includes installing 24-inch bypass piping along the west side of Davis Road and north side of Marina Bay Drive, from Davis Road to the Dunkin' Donuts. The bypass will be in place for three to four months until the construction of the new segment of the force main extends past the area of concern.

Impacts include sidewalk closures and driveway closures in this area. During the duration of the project there may be temporary lane closures along Marina Bay Drive, but these should be infrequent and largely take place during normal working hours.

Area Businesses: Some driveway entrances to business centers on the north side of Marina Bay Drive-between Davis Road and the Dunkin' Donuts-will be closed. All efforts are being made to ensure access to these businesses is maintained. View the map below to see which entrances will remain open.

Bayou Brae Subdivision: There will be pipe installation work at both entrances to the subdivision. To keep the roads open during construction, road ramps are being installed at the Bayou Drive entrance. The entrance at Coryell Street will be saw cut and road plated to ensure safe emergency vehicle access. While both roads will remain open through construction, drivers will need to slow down upon approach.

Clear Creek High School & Intermediate School Students: Due to sidewalk closures, it will not be safe for students to walk to school. To ensure children get safely to and from school, the City of League City is working with CCISD to arrange bus transportation for the duration of the project for students who live in Bayou Brae starting Tuesday, October 15.

The City of League City understands the inconveniences associated with this critical repair, and thanks residents and businesses in the area for their cooperation.
