Papua New Guinea opens its chicken and beef market

The Brazilian government welcomed the announcement by Papua New Guinean authorities that health certificates have been approved for the import of poultry meat, mechanically separated chicken meat, and boneless beef cuts from Brazil.

Exports will be initially carried out by Brazilian industrial plants that were inspected and approved by the Papuan government last year.

Negotiations for access to the poultry meat market began in 2020, and those for beef in 2022, driven by the interest of the Brazilian private sector in a market of 9 million people - the second largest in Oceania, behind only Australia.

With these authorizations, the Brazilian agribusiness sector obtained its 119th market opening tin 2024, totaling 197 new opportunities across 59 destinations since the beginning of 2023.

The openings are the result of joint efforts between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa).
