Bilateral relations, European issues and main regional dossiers at the centre of Deputy Minister Cirielli’s talks in Poland

Italy's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Edmondo Cirielli visited Warsaw today, where he met with the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, Marek Prawda, to discuss the excellent state of bilateral relations between Italy and Poland.

"Poland is a friend and a fundamental partner for Italy, a country to which we are bound by very solid political and economic relations. It is important to maintain the intensity of the political dialogue high and to strengthen coordination regarding the main issues on the international and European agenda," the Deputy Minister commented at the end of the meeting.

The talks focused first and foremost on the main bilateral dossiers. Ample space was also devoted to the international agenda, starting with the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and recent developments in Moldova, where presidential elections and the referendum on EU membership will be held on 20 October. The visit came on the heels of the Moldova Partnership Platform Ministerial Conference in Chisinau, which Deputy Minister Cirielli also attended. Topics such as cooperation with the African continent under the Mattei Plan and the European prospects of the Western Balkans were also addressed.
