Suspect Arrested for Narcotics Sales with Substantial Fentanyl Seizure NR24283kt/dm

Los Angeles: On October 16, 2024, the Los Angeles Police Department's Central Area Narcotics Enforcement Detail (NED), assisted by Rampart Area Narcotics Enforcement Detail and the Central Area Gang Impact Team (GIT), conducted an undercover narcotics investigation near Downtown Los Angeles which resulted in the arrest of one Los Angeles resident for Sales of Fentanyl.

The suspect arrested was identified as Jose Alberto Soto, 28 years of age, Booking Number 6902357, Charge - 11351 H&S: Sales of Fentanyl.

After a detailed follow-up investigation, Central NED prepared and executed a search warrant in the 7500 block of Central Avenue in South Los Angeles. The search warrant resulted in the seizure of over 50 pounds of powdered fentanyl and nearly 9 pounds of black tar heroin, plus $14,500 in US currency.

According to current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) estimates for the Los Angeles Area, this seizure represents over $4,000,000 in street value. Assuming a 2mg lethal dose, this seized fentanyl could potentially kill over 11,000,000 people.
