Update #16: City of St. Petersburg Offices Open, Announces Meeting Cancellations and Continues Recovery Efforts After Double Storms

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (October 14, 2024) - The City of St. Petersburg continues to recover after double storm impacts. Here is the latest:

City Event and Meeting Cancellations:

  • City facilities are open for regular business this week, Oct. 14-18, however all City Council and Committee Meetings have been cancelled.

  • Supplier Diversity Day, scheduled for Oct. 15, has also been cancelled.

  • Please check www.stpete.org/events for real-time updates of event cancellations.

Mobile Permitting

Remote Permitting Sites will open on Wednesday, Oct. 16 to make the permitting process faster, more accessible, and more convenient for homeowners who need to file permits for repairs to their homes due to storm damage.

Remote Permitting Site Locations & Hours

  • Azalea Recreation Center: 1600 72nd St. N

  • Enoch D. Davis Center: 1111 18th Ave. S

  • Roberts Recreation Center: 1246 50th Ave. N

Remote Permitting Sites will be open Wednesday, Oct. 16 - Friday, Oct. 18 from 10 a.m-2 p.m. Schedules and locations will be subject to change based on post-storm conditions. Remote Permitting Sites will accept debit or credit cards only, cash and checks will not be accepted.

Boil Water Notice Lifted:

  • Boil water notice for St. Petersburg, South Pasadena, and Lealman has officially been lifted as of Monday morning, Oct. 14.

Comfort and Charging Stations:

Stations will provide air conditioning and a place to charge devices as power is being restored throughout St. Pete. Locations are open from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

  • Roberts Recreation Center, 1246 50th Ave. N

  • Azalea Recreation Center, 1600 72nd St. N

Multiagency Recovery Center:

  • A Multiagency Resource Center (MARC) will open with expanded services on Monday, Oct. 14, from 1-7 p.m. at the Enoch D. Davis Center (1111 18th Ave. S). Starting Tuesday, the MARC will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. At this centralized location, people can access various services and information related to disaster recovery.

  • In addition to FEMA, the following agencies will provide assistance at the MARC: Florida Department of Veterans Affairs, Florida Department of Commerce, Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, Florida Department of Elder Affairs, Florida Department of Insurance Regulation and Florida Department of Children and Families with Hope Florida Navigators.

  • When visiting a MARC, it's a good idea to bring identification, proof of residence, insurance information, and any documentation related to your disaster-related losses to facilitate the application process and ensure you receive the appropriate assistance. Residents can register for FEMA assistance online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov, via the FEMA app or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).

Debris Update:

Residential debris collection has resumed. Residents are reminded to place all debris in separate piles on the curb - and do not use trash bags to bag any debris.

Hometown Recovery Hauler Program: The City is working with 100 local haulers through our new Hometown Recovery Haulers Program, a grassroots effort to help clear storm debris faster in our hardest-hit neighborhoods while supporting small, local businesses.

Brush Site Operations:

  • Residents: City brush sites are open 7 days a week, 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Please drop your vegetative debris here: www.stpete.org/brushsites

  • Commercial businesses / landscapers: our City Brush Sites are packed with debris. Please use the City's Temporary Debris Management at 1953 72nd St. N until further notice.
