Doty Street and Wilson Street Paving Closures – Friday (10/18) and Saturday (10/19)

Starting Friday, October 18th, R.G Huston's paving contractor will begin final paving operations for the E Wilson Street and E Doty Street Reconstruction Project. Signing for the detour routes and closed roadways will be present for the duration of the work.

Friday (10/18) - E Doty Street Paving

Starting at 7:00am, R.G Huston's paving contractor will begin final surface paving of E Doty Street and resurfacing on S Pinckney Street, from King St to E Doty St. Final surface paving on E Doty St is estimated to be completed by 5:00pm Friday.

Closure details:

  • One lane of eastbound traffic will be maintained at all times on Doty Street.
    • The open travel lane will shift when crews move to pave the opposing lane.
  • S Pinckney Street, from King Street to E Doty Street, will remain closed.
  • Wilson Street Parking Garage users should enter via Doty Street.
  • There will be a short duration where vehicles will be restricted from leaving or entering the NoVo apartment parking garage or entering the City Parking Garage via Doty Street.
    • Work in front of the garage driveway is estimated to occur between 7:30am and 8:30am then again between 11:30am to 12:30pm.
    • These closures are anticipated to last approximately 15-30 minutes each time.
    • NoVo Apartment residents should exit prior to, or after, the paving windows.
  • Access to northbound Pinckney Street will not be permitted from Doty Street.

Friday (10/18) - E Wilson Street Utility Work

AT&T will be performing adjustments on their underground facilities in preparation for the final paving beginning at 11:30am on Saturday (10/19). This work is estimated to be completed by 1:00pm. After work in this area is complete, E Wilson Street will reopen to normal traffic flows.

Closure details:

  • Metro Buses will detour from this area onto John Nolen Drive. This detour will continue through all of Saturday (10/19).
  • E Wilson Street, from King Street to Pinckney Street, will temporarily operate as a two-way roadway to maintain access to the Embassy Suites.
  • Access onto Doty Street will not be permitted from Pinckney Street.
  • Access to the Hilton Hotel will be permitted from Martin Luther King Jr Blvd.
  • Westbound E Wilson Street traffic should follow the posted detour route from King Street to the outer square loop that runs from Webster Street to Dayton Street to Fairchild Street and back to Doty Street.

Saturday (10/19) - E Wilson Street Paving

Starting at 7:00am, R.G Huston's paving contractor will begin final surface paving on E Wilson Street, from Pinckney Street through the Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd intersection. This work is estimated to be completed by 1:00pm. Once operations have concluded, E Wilson Street will reopen to normal traffic flows.

Closure details:

  • Metro Buses will continue detouring onto John Nolen Drive through Saturday.
  • E Wilson Street, from King Street to Pinckney Street, will temporarily operate as a two-way roadway to maintain access to local businesses and residences.
  • Access onto Pinckney Street will not be permitted from E Wilson Street.
  • Access to the Embassy Suites should follow posted detour route from King Street along the outer square loop that runs from Webster Street to Dayton Street to Fairchild Street to Doty Street back to Pinckney Street.
  • Wilson Street Parking Garage users should enter via Doty Street.
  • Contractors will maintain the Wilson Street Garage exit onto Wilson Street at all times.
    • Exception
      • There will be a short duration while paving operations are taking place in-front of the garage driveway on Wilson Street.
      • Vehicles will not be permitted to exit during this time. Please have patience and follow directions from the paving crew on site.

While access will be maintained to the Wilson Street Garage during the paving portion of this project, to avoid potential congestion and delays, it is recommended to park at other City-operated locations.
