ASHFORD, Wash. - The White River Road to the White River Campground area will close for the winter at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2024. Deployment of Mount Rainier National Park staff to the Hurricane Helene recovery effort necessitates the change to the new closure date from the prior estimated closure date of October 20, 2024. The Mowich Lake Road will close at 9 a.m. on Monday, October 14, 2024. State Routes 123 and 410, which provide access to eastern sections of the park, are estimated to remain open until mid-November.

During snow plowing operations or when otherwise posted, park roads are closed to all other uses, included bicycling, hiking, skiing, and snowmobiling. Visitors should check road closure signs on closed road gates before proceeding.

Information on seasonal road closures within Mount Rainier National Park can be found on the park's roads status page. Information about State Route 410 (Chinook Pass) and State Route 123 (Cayuse Pass) is located on the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) mountain passes website.

Information about visiting the park can be found at the Mount Rainier National Park website.
