Interstate 80 Construction Update for Sierra Corridor

PLACER/NEVADA/SIERRA COUNTIES - Caltrans is reminding motorists of various lane and ramp closures in multiple locations along Interstate 80 (I-80) as several projects and emergency repairs continue in Placer, Nevada and Sierra counties.
Emergency repair work is starting to wrap up for the season, but construction continues on major projects and motorists still may experience delays up to a maximum of two hours and are encouraged to factor in additional travel times along the I-80 Sierra corridor. Here is the breakdown for next week:
Eastbound I-80
  • Monte Vista Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Monte Vista and Drum Forebay, lane and ramp closures will be in place around the clock beginning 6 a.m. Monday, October 28 through 11 a.m. Friday, November 1. Work is also scheduled from 7 p.m. Friday, November 1 through 11 a.m. Saturday, November 2.
  • Yuba Pass Separation Overhead Bridge Project between Yuba Gap and the junction with State Route 20 (SR-20), lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, October 28 through Wednesday, October 30.
  • Soda Springs Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Troy and Soda Springs, lane closures will be in place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, October 29 through Thursday, October 31. Work is also scheduled from 6 a.m. to noon Friday, November 1.
Westbound I-80
  • Westbound I-80 restriping project between the CHP Truck Scales and State Route 267, lane closures will be in place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, October 28 through Thursday, October 31.
  • Soda Springs Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Soda Springs and Troy, lane closures will be in place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, October 29 through Thursday, October 31. Work is also scheduled from 6 a.m. to noon Friday, November 1.
  • Emergency Repairs Location 3 between Rainbow and Cisco Grove, lane closures will be in place from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, October 31 and from 4 a.m. to noon Friday, November 1.
  • Yuba Pass Separation Overhead Bridge Project between the junction with SR-20 and Yuba Gap, lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, October 28 through Thursday, October 31.
  • Emergency Repairs Location 2 between Emigrant Gap and Nyack, lane and ramp closures will be in place from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, October 29 through Thursday, October 31. Work is also scheduled from 4 a.m. to noon Friday, November 1.
  • Monte Vista Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Drum Forebay and Monte Vista, lane and ramp closures will be in place around the clock beginning 6 a.m. Monday, October 28 through 7 p.m. Saturday, November 2.

The extended lane closures will help to minimize the duration of the work and improve workers' safety. For more information on each project visit Caltrans District 3 Current Projects. The schedule is subject to change or be delayed due to weather, availability of materials or other unexpected events.

Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to "Be Work Zone Alert" and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
