Buena Vista University Marks Enrollment and Significant Campus Enhancements

September 24, 2024

Continuing to build on its success, Buena Vista University is proud to announce the enrollment of another outstanding class of students, exceeding last year's record-breaking undergraduate numbers at its Storm Lake campus. This marks the highest undergraduate enrollment in the past nine years, highlighting the university's continued growth and commitment to providing a top-tier education.

In addition to the growth of its Storm Lake campus, BVU's recently introduced graduate programs-the Master of Arts in Teaching and Master of Education in Educational Administration-are seeing remarkable enrollment growth. This strong enrollment underscores the value of these programs in equipping educators with essential skills needed for success and affirms BVU's dedication to addressing the evolving needs of the education field.

"We are delighted to welcome another strong class of students to campus," said Buena Vista University President Brian A. Lenzmeier, Ph. D. "The enrollment of this incoming class and the growth within these new graduate programs highlight the strength of this university's vision and our shared commitment to deliver an exceptional education with unmatched opportunities."

This first-year undergraduate class at Storm Lake is primarily made up of students from across Iowa and the Midwest, many being the first in their family to attend college.

BVU is ranked as the top private university in Iowa for helping students achieve upward mobility, according to U.S. News and World Report. This reflects the university's dedication to supporting local students and preparing them for success in life. "Our university vision is for every student to unlock their greatest potential to build better lives and stronger communities," added Lenzmeier. "This recognition by U.S. News & World Report in creating upward social mobility for our students affirms that we are making meaningful strides toward achieving this vision."

U.S. News and World Report also recognized BVU among the Best Regional Universities in the Midwest and as a Best Value among Regional Universities in the Midwest, emphasizing the university's ongoing dedication to delivering a high-quality education at an affordable price.

Prior to the start of the academic year, BVU has made progress on other components of its strategic vision. The recent groundbreaking for a new addition to Siebens Fieldhouse, the demolition of Smith Hall to enhance green space, and the construction of a new residence hall are all key milestones aimed at enriching BVU's campus environment. These developments are designed to better support the university's Building Community theme to optimize its working, living, and learning spaces.
