On Sept. 21, Sacramento County came out in full force to join Supervisor Patrick Kennedy in bringing essential services to the South Sacramento community! From health screenings to animal care, the 6th annual District 2 Fun Fair provided a valuable opportunity for residents to learn about and connect with 13 different County departments and 25 various service providers and local organizations all in one place.

Health Services:

Free health screenings were a major attraction, including blood pressure checks, diabetes (A1C) testing and other general health evaluations conducted by the Sacramento County Health Center. Additionally, the Public Health Sexual Health program provided condoms, lubricant and other sexual health resources to attendees. At the same time, staff from Public Health offered COVID-19 vaccines, flu shots, dietary tips and information about balanced nutrition.

Dr. Mendonsa, Sacramento County Health Center Director, shared his enthusiasm for the impact of the Fun Fair.

"This event is great because it gives community members the opportunity to see what services the County offers, all in one place. It also allows them to connect with a real person, which makes a big difference in encouraging people to access the services they need."

Animal Care Services:

"The turnout was incredible," said Annette Bedsworth, Bradshaw Animal Shelter Director. "We were thrilled to see so many pets receiving the care they need. It's heartwarming to know that so many families left with healthier pets thanks to the services we were able to provide for free."
