Cassidy, West Monroe Mayor Mitchell Highlight Major Community Infrastructure Investments

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) and West Monroe Mayor Staci Mitchell highlighted major investments for the City of West Monroe. In October, Cassidy announced the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) granted West Monroe a total of $1,380,000.00 to bolster the city's growth, development, and economic sustainability from his Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). The City of West Monroe also received $509,000.00 to update and improve 770 feet of sewer infrastructure on Cotton Street and $871,000 for public infrastructure improvements to Constitution Drive.

"Mayor Mitchell and I share a vision to help West Monroe be better than ever," said Dr. Cassidy. "By teaming up with local officials to bring in resources for infrastructure, we are making a real investment in our state's economy and workforce. And because of the Infrastructure Law I helped negotiate, North Louisiana and West Monroe are going to see even more dollars headed their way."

"I appreciate Senator Cassidy and the Delta Regional Authority for the infrastructure investments to retain and attract new business growth to West Monroe," said Mayor Mitchell. "These types of grants are so important for smaller cities to help with economic growth."

Funding for these projects is provided by the States' Economic Development Assistance Program (SEDAP), which provides direct investment into community-based and regional projects to support basic public infrastructure, transportation infrastructure, workforce training and education, and small businesses development with an emphasis on entrepreneurship, and the Community Infrastructure Fund (CIF), which targets physical infrastructure projects that help build safer, more resilient communities in the Delta region. DRA coordinates directly with the Office of the Governor for the State of Louisiana and its local development districts for program funding implementation.
