LBPD Blotter - Oct. 6, 2024

As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department's homepage and on the "News" tab of the Department's website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here's a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Officers investigate a no-hit shooting- On October 6, 2024, at approximately 2:31 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Maine Avenue. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening injury to his upper body. The preliminary investigation suggests that the victim and the suspect were involved in a physical altercation which escalated when a second suspect struck the victim with a gun before firing a gun shot in the air. The suspects fled the scene prior to officers' arrival. No injuries reported. The investigation is ongoing.

  • Officers investigate a hit shooting- On October 6, 2024, at approximately 1:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to a hospital regarding a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his lower body. The victim self-transported to the hospital. The preliminary information suggests that the victim was in the area of Willow Street near the 710 Freeway when he was approached by a male adult suspect who struck him with his fist before firing a gunshot at the victim. No other injuries reported. The investigation is ongoing.

  • Great work officers! Yesterday, officers safely took a gun off the streets

    On October 5, 2024, at approximately 2:52 p.m., officers located a suspect from an earlier hit and run collision and recovered a loaded firearm that the suspect tried to discard of as he attempted to flee from officers on foot. The male adult suspect was subsequently arrested and taken into custody. The suspect is on probation and is prohibited from carrying firearms. The investigation is ongoing.
