The working documents for the nineteenth session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (19.COM) are now online.
In addition to the recommendations of the Evaluation Body for the 2024 cycle's nominations, they include an analysis of periodic reports submitted by States Parties in Africa, advancements on the broader implementation of Article 18 of the Convention, a report on progress made in the thematic initiatives with particular focus on living heritage and climate change, as well as a proposal for the number of nomination files to be treated in the 2026 and 2027 cycles.
The 19.COM will be chaired by H.E. Ms Nancy Ovelar de Gorostiaga, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Delegate of the Republic of Paraguay to UNESCO. The session will be held in Asunción, Republic of Paraguay (at the Conmebol Convention Center and Gran Bourbon Hotel) from Monday 2 to Saturday 7 December 2024. An opening ceremony offered by the host country will take place from 7:00 p.m. on Sunday 1 December 2024. More information will be provided in due course.
As the start of the meeting is fast approaching, those participants who are not yet registered are invited to do so online and as soon as possible and before Monday 18 November 2024.
