Austin-Bergstrom International Airport expects an increase in passengers on

City of Austin

AUSTIN, Texas - Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) anticipates an increase in passenger activity on Sunday, October 20, with over 35,000 passengers, and Monday, October 21, with over 44,000 passengers projected to be processed by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). This increase is primarily attributed to the University of Texas at Austin vs. University of Georgia football game on Saturday and the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix race at the Circuit of The Americas on Sunday.

During this period, especially on Monday, October 21, travelers should:<_o3a_p>

  • Arrive early: At least 2.5 hours early for domestic flights and at least 3 hours early for international flights. Passengers should not arrive more than 4 hours before their flight. To prevent passengers from arriving to the airport too early, Visit Austinis offering a luggage storage center at their Visitor Center. Travelers can drop their bags off and explore downtown Austin before heading to the airport if they have several hours between hotel check-out and their flight's departure.<_o3a_p>
  • Plan ahead: Consider factors that could impact their unique travel experience - for instance, account for enough travel time to get to the airport and arrive even earlier to check luggage, return a rental car, or complete other pre-security screening activities before heading to the terminal.<_o3a_p>
  • Expect lines at security checkpoints and airline ticket counters, especially during peak travel times.<_o3a_p>
  • Pack properly using the Transportation Security Administration's guidance.<_o3a_p>

IMPORTANT: TEMPORARY MEDIA PARKING LOCATION CHANGE:
Beginning Sunday at midnight through Tuesday at midnight, media parking will temporarily change location from the Departures level to the Arrivals level on the first floor by Pickup Area C, immediately to the right after arriving to the lower/arrivals level. The airport asks all media to park parallel to the curb and double park within the coned-off area if necessary. If parking in this space is unavailable, you may park in the Red Garage Short-Term parking. Please pull a ticket and either take a photo of your ticket to send to [email protected]or be able to show the ticket to the PIO on-site for us to validate your parking so that you do not pay fees.
