On October 2, 2024, State Police members arrested Timothy N. Keller, age 46, from Carthage, for Menacing second-degree (class "A" misdemeanor), Criminal Obstruction of Breathing (class "A" misdemeanor), and Criminal Possession of a Weapon fourth degree (class "A" misdemeanor).

On October 2, 2024, at about 5:02 p.m., State Police Carthage responded to Milady Rd in the town of Wilna for a report of a domestic incident.

A preliminary investigation revealed Keller got into a verbal altercation and threatened the victim with a knife and grabbed them by the neck.

Keller barricaded himself inside his residence and refused to exit when patrols arrived. After a standoff and discussion with a Crisis Negotiator and Special Operations Response Team, Keller voluntarily exited the residence and was taken into custody.

New York State Police executed a Criminal Search Warrant of the residence, and a Temporary Extreme Risk Protection Order was filed under the state's Red Flag Law.

Keller was processed at SP Watertown and transported to the Jefferson County Public Safety building pending Arraignment at the City of Watertown Court.
