The visit of the Ambassador of Armenia to the Ghent University

On October 9, Ambassador of Armenia to Belgium Tigran Balayan visited Ghent University.
The visit commenced with the meeting of Tigran Balayan with the Rector of the Ghent University Rik Van de Walle and the professorial staff representing all the scientific and educational sectors of the university.
Rector de Walle presented in detail the structure, programs and cooperation opportunities of Ghent University.
The Ambassador made a number of proposals regarding further cooperation. A comprehensive discussion was held on the proposals. The parties agreed to establish more dynamic communication to promote the rapid implementation of joint projects.
Ambassador Balayan granted more than a dozen books on the history of Armenia to the university library.
The meeting was followed by the lecture titled "Armenia-EU partnership and future prospects", during which Ambassador Balayan presented the unprecedented progress of the relations between Armenia and the EU to the scientists and students. He elaborated on the implementation process envisaged by the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement and informed about the newly negotiated Partnership Priorities document.
The "Crossroads of Peace" program put forward by the Government of Armenia was also brought to the attention of the audience.
In the course of the Q&A session, Tigran Balayan referred to the ongoing negotiations around the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the consequences of the ethnic cleansing carried out by Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh, and the EU's response to that tragedy.
