Summer High School Student at Institute Wins Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown’s Summer Internship Award

At Mayor Brown's 2024 summer internship awards ceremony, Murphy Suah, a Jacobs Institute intern who worked in the Niagara University Biomedical Research Institute under the direction of Dr. Mary McCourt, professor of chemistry, was awarded the enthusiastic learner award.

Murphy attends PS 366 Research Laboratory High School for Bioinformatics and Life Sciences and is in 12th grade. Murphy worked on a component of Dr. McCourt's Cholestosome^TM project, which focused on developing a therapeutic for targeting triple negative breast cancer.
