Woodrow Drive Repair to Start Next Week

Extensive work to repair Woodrow Drive is expected to begin next week and be completed by the end of November.

KUB made extensive infrastructure improvements beneath Woodrow Drive earlier this year and patched the street, but the road surface became more and more uneven over time as fill materials settled.

Fixing the uneven street requires more than just asphalt. Crews will actually rebuild the sub base with stone, then cover it with two layers of asphalt.

The extra effort to rebuild the road's foundation means that the repaving should last longer. The City also planned this work at a time when additional crews were available, resulting in a shorter timeline for completion.

"By scheduling this at the end of the citywide paving contract, Rogers Group has the capacity now to assign multiple crews to Woodrow, and the contractor did not have that option even a week or two ago," Civil Engineering Manager Amanda Koenig says.

"We thank the residents for their patience. We think this is the best solution, both in terms of reducing the dig-out work to the shortest duration of time possible, plus getting a quality street that will hold up over time."

Woodrow Drive will be closed to through traffic for six weeks - and at times, residents may have limited access. The contractor will give advanced notice to residents when they plan to be working directly in front of their homes.

At times, parts of Woodrow will be closed to through traffic, but local access by residents remain open.
