Free one day household hazardous waste drop off event in Albany: Sunday, October 6

Alameda County residents can dispose of their hazardous waste. Online registration is required for event and is limited to households, not businesses.

Berkeleyans can make their home safer by getting rid of paint, fuels, electronics, and other household hazardous waste for free at a one-day event this Saturday in Albany.

Untended chemicals can pose a danger to people, animals, and your property. Take advantage of this opportunity close to home.

9:00 am to 1:00 pm
Appointment required
Event address is given upon registration

This event, coordinated by StopWaste.org, is open only to Alameda County residents. Businesses can dispose of hazardous materials through other services.

When dropping off your household hazardous waste, pack the materials in the trunk, stay in your vehicle, and have your driver's license ready. Professional crews will unload and handle all the toxic materials, as required by state law.

What's ok to bring

Households may bring the following items to the drop-off event:

  • Treated wood waste including railroad ties
  • Asbestos
  • Compressed gas cylinders other than propane
  • Large appliances (such as air conditioners, refrigerators, stoves, washers, etc.)
  • Construction and demolition waste
  • Smoke detectors
  • Explosives (such as ammunition, fireworks, marine flares, gunpowder)
  • Radioactives
