MPD Investigating Fatal Crash in Northwest

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department an announce an arrest and continue to investigate a fatal crash that occurred in Northwest.

On Sunday, September 29, 2024, at approximately 3:46 a.m., a recently carjacked 2016 Mazda 6 was traveling southbound on 13th Street, Northwest. The Mazda entered the intersection at R Street against a red light and struck a 2023 Tesla Model 3. The Tesla was traveling westbound on R Street with a green signal light. The Mazda 6 continued past the intersection, striking two parked vehicles.

Third District officers and DC Fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene. The operator of the Mazda, an adult male, was transported to an area hospital and admitted in critical condition. The passenger of the Mazda was treated on scene, and after all lifesaving measures failed, succumbed to his injuries.

The decedent has been identified as 18-year-old Devin Clark of Northeast, DC.

The Tesla operator was treated on scene and placed under arrest. 27-year-old Nicholas Williams of Herndon, VA was charged with Driving Under the Influence and No Permit.
