Powell Joins Taft’s IP Group

Taft welcomes Scott R. Powell to the firm's Intellectual Property group in the Indianapolis office. He has over a decade of experience advising on patent preparation and prosecution, clearance and invalidity studies, and inter partes review. Powell's practice also includes matters related to trademark, copyright, and internet law, as well as contractual matters involving intellectual property. His patent prosecution experience includes the fields of software, semiconductors, optics, and electrical and mechanical systems, including electrical and mechanical subsystems in automobiles.

Prior to joining Taft, Powell was a patent attorney at an Am Law 100 firm. He earned his J.D. from Northern Illinois University and his bachelor's degree in computer engineering from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
