Tiffin University Expands Club Sports Offerings with Addition of Pickleball for Fall 2025

Tiffin University's club sports program is expanding with the addition of pickleball for the fall 2025 season. This brings Tiffin's total club sports offerings to six. Currently, students can participate in a variety of club sports at TU, including men's and women's bowling, cheerleading, men's and women's flag football, men's volleyball and men's and women's rugby.

Pickleball, a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis, was invented in 1965 as a children's backyard game in the United States. In 2022, Washington State named pickleball its official state sport. By 2023, the number of players in the U.S. was estimated at over 8.9 million. Pickleball is best known for its accessibility, relatively simple rules and the welcoming environment it creates for players.

"Pickleball has been the fastest growing sport in America for the past few years," said Charlie Massi, Director of Club and Recreation Sports at Tiffin University. "I am very excited to introduce it as a club sport at Tiffin University while enhancing the student-athletes collegiate experience and providing partial scholarships."
