2024.11.01 Field Foundation/IDHS Announce Healing Illinois

The Field Foundation is partnering with the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) for the relaunch of Healing Illinois, a racial healing initiative.

Healing Illinois was introduced in 2020 to address racial disparities that impact people across the state. The renewed initiative will distribute $4.5 million in grants to nonprofit organizations that facilitate racial healing activities, lead equity work, and engage in meaningful dialogue.

Funding priorities are:

• Community Building and Engagement: Funding for existing racial healing activities designed to strengthen relationships and promote collective healing within and across communities.
• Media and Storytelling: Funding for projects that use media, narrative, and creative storytelling to advance racial healing.
• Education and Awareness: This category aims to prioritize initiatives that educate individuals and communities on the impact of historic and ongoing harms and highlight pathways towards healing.

Applications are due by November 15, 2024 by 8:00pm CST.
