Department of Natural Resources awards $44,000 grant to Oregon…

City will evaluate wastewater system improvements

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, OCT. 3, 2024 - The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has awarded a $44,000 Clean Water Engineering Report Grant to the city of Oregon in Holt County to evaluate the city's wastewater system.

The grant offers funding to qualified communities to help cover engineering costs of evaluating potential wastewater system improvements. Oregon will use its grant to identify improvements needed to continue reliable service to the area and to meet permit requirements The facility plan should be complete in March 2026.

Water and wastewater systems are essential infrastructure that support every community's health and economic vitality. Through this grant, Oregon can fully assess it treatment plant and identify improvements for better efficiency and effectiveness. This will not only help the community determine how best to address its current wastewater needs, but also plan for future growth and development.

The department is committed to assisting Missouri communities with water and wastewater infrastructure improvement projects. Through its Financial Assistance Center, the department provides funding opportunities for qualified communities with water quality, wastewater and drinking water infrastructure needs. This project will be funded wholly or in part with monies received from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
