Martin Luther King Jr. Park renovation progresses swiftly

This Far West Neighborhood park, nestled between W. Ninth Place and W. 10th Ave., began its much-anticipated transformation in September 2024. With a dry fall on our side, construction crews have been making swift progress.

So far, we've seen:

  • Underground utilities installed
  • Smooth new concrete walkways
  • Accessible parking on Grant Street
  • A brand new wood privacy fence along the west property line

And there's even more to come. The centerpiece of this renovation will be a completely new playground featuring vibrant, accessible rubber surfacing and play equipment designed to encourage fun, imaginative play while keeping safety and visibility top of mind.

Although things will be slowing down a bit during the holiday season, work will pick up in late winter and spring. The park is on track to reopen to the public in summer 2025-just in time for sunny days and outdoor fun!

This project is made possible by your support of the 2018 Parks and Recreation Bond and the 2023 Parks and Recreation Maintenance Levy. Thank you for investing in the future of our parks!

Stay tuned for updates as MLK Jr. Park takes shape. We can't wait to celebrate its grand reopening with you next summer!
