Weekly APA Public Comment Periods Announcement


RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency is accepting public comment on projects currently under review. The public is encouraged to go online to learn more about each public comment opportunity and to submit comments electronically.

At present, the following projects are available for comment at https://apa.ny.gov/Hearings/index.cfm:

• Amendments to a previously-approved mineral extraction, including: expansion of a residual minerals pile from 73 acres to 88.4 acres in size, lowering of the quarry floor from 1,860 feet above mean sea level (amsl) to 1,790 feet amsl, increasing hours of on-site trucking and mining vehicle operation from 7am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday to 7am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday, increasing off-site trucking trips from 5 per day to 16 per day Monday through Friday and reducing off-site trucking hours from 7am to 10pm to 7am to 5pm Monday through Friday in the Town of Johnsburg, Warren County, and Indian Lake, Hamilton County (P2021-0245).

• A four-lot subdivision to create a 1.17±-acre lot to be improved by a single family dwelling (Lot 1), a 2.47±-acre lot to be improved by a single family dwelling (Lot 2), a 3.65±-acre lot to be improved by a single family dwelling (Lot 3) and a 17.24±-acre non-building lot in the Town of North Elba, Essex County (P2024-0240).

• A three-lot subdivision to create a 0.39±-acre lot with existing development (Lot 1), a 0.76±-acre lot with existing development (Lot 2), and a 0.44±-acre building lot (Lot 3) in the Town of Inlet, Hamilton County (P2024-0188).

• Construction of a 105-foot-tall monopole telecommunications tower and installation of antennas at the 100-foot centerline level with associated equipment, and construction of a 208-foot-long access drive to the tower site in the Town of Schroon, Essex County (P2024-0199).

• Proposed application of the lampricides TFM and Niclosamide to control a recently detected invasive sea lamprey population in the Boquet River and North Branch Boquet River, Essex County. This treatment will be incorporated into the long-term sea lamprey control program authorized by prior Agency permits. The purpose of the project is to achieve and maintain reductions of the invasive sea lamprey populations in Lake Champlain, thereby reducing the wounding rates to Lake Trout, Landlocked Salmon, and Walleye populations in the Lake (P2024-0234).

• Installation of a 125-foot-tall monopine telecommunications tower and installation of an antenna array on the tower at a centerline height of 110 feet with access long an existing 75-foot-long gravel drive extended by a new 170-foot-long gravel drive in the Town of Minerva, Essex County (P2024-0142).

• Installation of one pole that is 43 feet above grade in the Town of Queensbury, Warren County (P2024-0290).

• Draft amendments to the to the 1986 Mt Van Hoevenberg Intensive Use Area Unit Management Plan (UMP) for modernization and repair of facilities as well as construction of mountain biking trails and features at Mt Van Hoevenberg.

• The preparation and submission to the Governor of proposed amendments to the Adirondack Park State Land Master Plan for the management of State lands, pursuant to the Adirondack Park Agency Act (APA Act) and the APSLMP.
