WASHINGTON, D.C.- Today, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) applauded the Senate passage of his legislation to name the U.S. Post Office in Rayville, La., in honor of the late Congressman-Elect Luke Letlow.
"Luke Letlow left behind an incredible legacy and inspired so many with his passion for public service, including me. He was a strong leader who loved Louisiana and had a faithful heart.
"I am honored to lead our entire delegation in the effort to name a post office in Luke's beloved Richland Parish in his honor. This post office will be a reminder of the pride and joy Luke had for his community. This is just one way to recognize the years of public service that Luke Letlow dedicated and intended to dedicate to our great state and nation, and I look forward to it becoming law," said Leader Scalise.
"I'm deeply touched by my Senate colleagues Senator Bill Cassidy and Senator John Kennedy, in addition to Majority Leader Steve Scalise, for their support to finalize the renaming of the Rayville Post Office in Luke's honor. Luke deeply loved Richland Parish and spent countless hours learning about its history, I know he would consider it the recognition of a lifetime to have the Post Office named in his honor, and our family is so proud to see this fitting memorial to his legacy in the place we call home," said Rep. Julia Letlow (R-La.).
In May, Leader Scalise spokeon the House floor in honor of Congressman-Elect Letlow and praised the House for passing the bill.
