On November 4, 2024 at approximately 1:27 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 200 block of Watt Street for the report of a carjacking that had just occurred.
Responding East District General Patrol officers located a 22-year-old male victim suffering from the effects of bear spray. The investigation determined that the victim was delivering a parcel in the 500 block of Harbison Avenue when he was hit with bear spray and subsequently robbed of his vehicle. He was treated by Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Services for effects of bear spray, and medically cleared.
Shortly after the carjacking, several citizens reported a vehicle matching the description driving erratically in the area. Attending officers located the stolen vehicle in a rear lane near Bowman Avenue east of Watt Street. After a short foot pursuit, officers took an adult male into custody without incident.
