While late this year, the fall chill has finally arrived, which means it's time to shut down UToledo's chilled water plants on both campuses and move from building cooling to heating beginning Wednesday, Nov. 6.

The switch from cooling to heating will begin today, Wednesday, Nov. 6, with Main Campus buildings located on the north side of Ottawa River. The switch to Main Campus buildings located on the south side of Ottawa River will begin sometime during the week of Monday, Nov. 11, through Friday, Nov. 15.

The switch to the academic buildings on the Health Science Campus also begins today, Wednesday, Nov. 6.

"As always, the long-term weather forecast influences our decision and timing for making this change," said Jason Toth, senior associate vice president for administration. "Once this change is made, we will no longer have cooling capability in most of the buildings on Main and Health Science campuses. This does not apply to patient care areas as we maintain the ability to cool those year-round."

While there may be the unexpectedly warm day through fall semester, the long-range forecast is highs in the 50s, with an occasional spike of 60 degrees, and lows in the 40s.

Any areas experiencing temperatures well outside the normal range can utilize the online work order system to submit a work request or can contact Facilities and Construction through the work control center at 419.530.1000.
