The Assistant Minister for the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Sashi Kiran, is currently in Delhi, India, to participate in the Global Sustainable Development Report (GSDR) 2023 Regional Operationalization Workshop for Asia and the Pacific.

The workshop aims to deepen knowledge of the GSDR framework, explore its applicability and opportunities in national policymaking, and is a platform for joint reflection on Voluntary National Review (VNR) preparation.

Assistant Minister Kiran shared Fiji's experience on the localisation of the SDG's at the high-level panel discussion on Integrated
Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) implementation in Asia and Pacific along with high-level representatives from India, Malaysia, and Indonesia. She stated that "At the heart of the 2030 Agenda lies the commitment to create a peaceful, prosperous, and harmonious future for all people".

She also emphasised that the 2030 Agenda is not just a global commitment but is an integral foundation for Fiji's national development. She said the recently launched National Development Plan 2025-2029 and Vision 2050 are comprehensively aligned to the SDGs, enabling integration of SDGs within the national planning and implementation framework.

Hon. Kiran stated that Fiji remains dedicated towards progressing SDGs by embracing the Whole of Government approach, bringing together different arms of government, private sector, civil society organisations, non-government organisations, academia, and development partners together in the implementation of the SDG's.

The Assistant Minister also delivered her closing statement on the final day of the forum.
