Bridge Replacement Project Continues on Route 487 in Cherry Township, Sullivan County

Montoursville, PA - Motorists are advised that a bridge replacement project continues on Route 487 in Cherry Township, Sullivan County.

On Monday, October 21, 2024, Route 487 will be closed between Old Bernice Road (Route 1006) and Jackson Street/School Road while the contractor, Nestlerode Contracting Company, changes over to the new bridge . Work includes removing the temporary bridge, paving, and setting of the guiderail.

A detour using Old Bernice Road (Route 1006), Route 220, and East Main Street / Mill Street (Route 87) will be in place until Friday, November 15, 2024, weather permitting.

Nestlerode Contracting Company is the prime contractor for this $3.1 million bridge replacement project. Work includes construction of a temporary bridge to the west of the proposed replacement structure, removal of the existing bridge and stone masonry, replacement with a Bulb-Tee bridge, drainage improvements, approach work and line painting. Work on this project is expected to be completed in November of 2024, weather permitting.

Motorists should be alert, slow down, watch for lane changes, and drive with caution through the work zone.
