DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene issued the following statement after House Republicans are projected to retain the majority:
"Across the country, House Democrats consistently outperformed the top of the ticket, despite the difficult headwinds that faced us. So far, 27 of our 31 Frontliners have been re-elected. Already this cycle, we have flipped six seats and won four open competitive Democratic seats. We also gained two new Members from Alabama and Louisiana. During an election with a national environment stacked against us, House Democrats held the line, and we are on track to swear in more Democratic Members than we had during the 118th Congress.
"While this is not the outcome we sought, House Democrats remain committed to building an economy where working families don't just get by, but are able to get ahead. We will seek out bipartisan opportunities to lower costs, boost wages, grow the middle class, and keep our communities safe. We are also prepared to do the work necessary to defend everyone's rights and freedoms.
"There are still important races that have yet to be called, including additional pickup opportunities, and the DCCC will continue to work hard to ensure every lawful vote is counted over the coming weeks."
