This Thursday, we, as Americans, will gather around our dinner tables with family and loved ones to eat turkey, stuffing, and pie, watch parades and football games, and connect with those around us. However, most importantly, we will give thanks.
Celebrated in America for over 400 years, Thanksgiving is one of our nation's most sacred traditions. Whether it be your health, a job that allows you to support your family, or even a small moment of joy, it is a day that reminds us to appreciate what we have and count our blessings, no matter how big or small.
However, I know that gratitude is not always easy, as Thanksgiving sometimes serves as a reminder of what is missing - whether it be the absence of a loved one, financial hardship, a difficult year, or the weight of personal struggles. Yet, even during a time of hardship, we must find strength and remember what we do have.
During this Thanksgiving, I am giving thanks for the opportunity to live in the United States of America, the greatest country in the world, where I have the blessings of freedom and liberty. I am also grateful for our brave members of the Armed Forces, who fight every day to protect us, as well as the first responders who are always on duty to provide help in case of an emergency. I am thankful for the sacrifices that generations of Americans before us made to create, protect, and improve our great nation.
So, on Thursday, as we sit down to eat our Thanksgiving meals, let's remember the spirit of the holiday and be thankful - not just for the blessings we currently have, but also for the opportunity to be presented with more. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
