Tom Barrett’s Washington Handlers Forced to Pull Ad After Getting Caught Lying About Curtis Hertel’s Record

With just weeks before Election Day, far-right extremist Tom Barrett and his Washington handlers are grasping at straws to attack Democratic candidate Curtis Hertel - and failing.

In the race for Michigan's 7th Congressional District, Barrett and his backers attempted to air an attack ad citing unproven allegations against Hertel by Americans for Public Trust. "Run by Republican political operatives," APT has "faced scrutiny over its nonprofit status for allegedly engaging in political activity," including spreading "'unsupported and misleading' political attack ads."

When confronted about the lies in their ads by local news stations, Barrett and the NRCC pulled their ads off the air with no explanation.

DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson:
"In a pathetic attempt to distract from his own extreme anti-abortion, corrupt voting record, Tom Barrett and his Washington cronies have been caught red-handed lying about Curtis Hertel's record of delivering for Mid-Michiganders. Voters know that Barrett is a rubber stamp for the same deceit and extremism in Congress, and that's why they will reject him at the polls this November."
