NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fifth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this afternoon (October 25, 2024) in the 2300 block of Louisa Street that left one man dead and another injured.

Around 2:00 p.m. NOPD Fifth District officers responded to the call of a shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers found two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported by EMS to a local hospital, where one of the victims was declared deceased. The other victim is stable.

Through further investigation, NOPD Homicide detectives determined the two victims drove to the 2300 block of Louisa and were approached by an unknown subject. Investigators believe an argument ensued, resulting in the unknown subject firing multiple shots into the car and striking both victims.

Detectives are in the process of gathering information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident as well as a motive. No additional information is currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and to officially identify the victim. Announcement of this information will come from the Coroner's Office.
