ROCK HILL MAN CHARGED WITH FAILING TO FILE TAX RETURNS

SCDOR agents arrested a Rock Hill man on Wednesday and charged him with seven counts of failing to file a state Income Tax return and pay taxes.

Eric Jimmy Hughes, 44, of Rock Hill, was the owner/operator of Ezy E's Takeout Delivery Service between 2015-2021. During those years, an investigation found that Hughes had an approximate taxable income of $1,061,078 but filed no state Individual Income Tax returns and did not pay state taxes. As a result, he failed to pay $61,108 in state Income Tax.

If convicted, Hughes faces a maximum sentence for each count of 1 year in prison and/or a fine of $10,000, as well as the cost of prosecution. He is being held in the York County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.

The SCDOR is committed to the fair administration of tax laws. By taking enforcement action against noncompliant taxpayers, the Department seeks to prevent unfairly increasing the tax burden on those who do comply.

If you suspect or know of anyone or a business that has committed a state tax crime, such as tax evasion or tax fraud, contact SCDOR Criminal Investigation and submit a Tax Violation Complaint Form (CID-27) to [email protected] or mail it to:
