The group's history from its early beginnings to its international success, plus the continuous growth that makes Almaviva one of the top-performing Italian companies of the year. Alberto Tripi talked about the company's forty years of entrepreneurial success in an interview conducted by Alessia Cruciani for Corriere della Sera's Economia.

The interview also touches upon the transition in leadership, years ago, when his son, Marco Tripi, took over as head of the group.

"How many times have we heard managers say, 'We're all in the same boat and need to row together.' However, those who say this have almost never held an oar in their hands. I, on the other hand, have, and I know how important it is for the person at the helm to be able to guide their crew's spirit toward success."

What does it mean to develop technology in Italy? "We Italians are ingenious. We possess the imagination that's lacking abroad. I say this because I've lived in an international environment. But we need to act very quickly, especially now that everyone is talking about developing AI. In a chaotic moment such as this, in order for innovation to be successful it must be driven by initiative and imagination. And we're much better at managing chaos than Anglo-Saxon countries. Unfortunately, we're also much better at not believing in ourselves."

The challenge of AI, which "should be called augmented intelligence and not artificial intelligence, because it doesn't replace human intelligence, but rather enhances it", "is critical for our country. If the competitiveness of our industrial system decreases, we all lose, not just our companies. We have an obligation to develop all those initiatives that keep us in key decision-making positions and allow us to safeguard our economy."

Almawave has launched Velvet, an Italian LLM language model, which has also been trained in Swahili. "Just a few days ago we finalized a new agreement with the Tanzanian government to provide their PA with an effective tool based on generative AI."

Almaviva is investing with its technological expertise in many other areas as well. "In the water sector, we monitor over 147,000 kilometers of network via satellite and have created a digital twin for more than 25,000 kilometers of infrastructure. In healthcare, together with Engineering Group, we're developing the National Telemedicine Platform. And we're also moving forward with the OncologlA project in the field of oncology and predictive analysis."
