G.A.I.N. Events Coming to a Neighborhood Near You

The City of Phoenix held its annual G.A.I.N. (Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods) kick-off event at the Christown Spectrum Mall on Saturday.

G.A.I.N. allows city departments and neighborhood groups to promote awareness, safety, and neighborhood unity. It showcases the importance of police-community partnerships and resident involvement in making our community a safer, better place to live.

Throughout October and even into November, Block Watch groups across the city will hold events and activities at parks and different locations.

"G.A.I.N. is such an important time for our city team including our police department to connect with neighborhood leaders. It helps us develop strong ties and be out in the community to see the problems and the solutions," said Mayor Kate Gallego at the kick-off event.

Many events take place on G.A.I.N. Day, Saturday, October 19, 2024. You can find a full list of events and locate one in your neighborhood here.

Recognizing the local community's commitment and involved in Block Watch programs in Phoenix neighborhoods is invaluable to making our community safer.

Interim Police Chief Michael Sullivan thanked the neighborhood leaders in attendance at the kick-off and said the police department cannot do what it does without their support and without the community.

"This is a great day.," Chief Sullivan said. "This is the start of us being able to reconnect after a long summer. We look forward over the next few weeks to seeing you all out there."

Sullivan encouraged everyone to attend a G.A.I.N. event in their area and reminded everyone that when they see an officer out in their community, to thank them for what they do and let them know they are supported.
