UPDATE: One Charged with Murder in Cannabis Store Shooting

A man has been arrested and charged with murder and other charges related to the October 3rd shooting at a cannabis shop.
On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, Jason R. Steiner, 34, of Gresham, Oregon, turned himself in to detectives and was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Murder in the Second Degree (2 counts) and Unlawful Use of a Weapon (2 counts).
The investigation revealed that the shooting happened following an armed robbery of the store by three individuals. Steiner was an employee of the cannabis retailer.
The deceased are identified as King H. Lawrence, 18, from Milwaukie, Oregon and Tahir D. Burley, 20, of Milwaukie, Oregon. Their families have been notified of their deaths and the arrest of Steiner.

A shooting has left two people deceased at a cannabis store in the St. Johns Neighborhood. A person believed to be involved remained on scene and is cooperating with police.
On Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 9:39 p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to North Precinct responded to a report of a shooting at a cannabis retailer in the 9400 block of North St. Louis Avenue. When officers arrived, they found two people deceased. A person believed to be involved remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
Detectives from the Portland Police Homicide Unit responded to the scene to investigate. During the investigation, North St. Louis Avenue is closed between North Smith Street and North Pier Park Place.
