Minister of Foreign Affairs attended bilateral discussion between Prime Minister and President of the China in Lima
On 15 November 2024, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the bilateral discussion between H.E. Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, and H.E. Mr. Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China, on the sidelines of the 2024 APEC Economic Leaders' Week (AELW) in Lima.
During the discussion, both sides reiterated their readiness to work closely together at bilateral and multilateral levels with a view to promote globalisation, connectivity, open and inclusive economic integration, as well as a free market system, especially in the APEC framework. Both leaders also discussed activities to celebrate 50th anniversary of Thailand - China diplomatic relations next year (2025), reaffirming high-level exchanges and visits, strategy coordination and to focus cooperation in 3 key areas, namely; (1) poverty eradication; (2) digital economy and future industry; and (3) soft power and people-to-people connectivity.
In addition, they exchanged views on regional and international issues, including the situation in Myanmar and transnational crimes, reiterating the significance of collaboration to promote peace and security in the region.
