Something 'BIK' has happened

The revamped "Better Internet for Kids" portal is online!

The European Commission proudly announces the launch of the revamped 'Better Internet for Kids' (BIK) portal. This one-stop-shop on online safety offers children, parents, educators, and policymakers the information needed to navigate the complexities of the digital environment safely and responsibly.

One important new feature is the 'Parent and Caregiver Corner,' which joins the popular Teacher and educator corner and the Children and youth corner. Parents can easily find guidance on digital challenges such as gaming, screen time management, and parental controls. It also features learning modules and in-depth sessions to help adults understand the digital realities facing children, including a guide to the most popular apps and social media platforms used today.

The enhanced 'BIK Youth Corner' underscores the importance of consulting youth to create a better internet. It provides information on how young people can engage in national online safety activities.

Another welcomed development is the new 'BIK Knowledge Hub'-the European central access point for child online safety information, covering the EU, Iceland, and Norway (EU 27+2). The hub includes a 'Rules and Guidelines Directory' for policy implementation, a 'Research and Reports Directory' with the latest findings, and 'Knowledge Hub Insights' offering policy insights through articles. The 'BIK Policy Monitor' tracks the progress of the BIK+ strategy across Member States, supplemented with an annual report, that includes interactive maps, and country profiles.

The portal's revamp includes technical enhancements to improve accessibility and search functions. While currently in English, multilingual support is planned, including a "Get help!" page in all 24 official EU languages (available soon).
