Governors Recognize 10th Annual National Apprenticeship Week

Washington D.C. - Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers and Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon, Co-Chairs of the National Governors Association (NGA) Education, Workforce and Community Investment Task Force, released the following statement in recognition of the 2024 National Apprenticeship Week.

"As Co-Chairs of the National Governors Association's Education, Workforce and Community Investment Task Force, we are proud to celebrate the 10th annual National Apprenticeship Week.

"Registered Apprenticeship programs combine on-the-job training with related instruction to establish an earn-and-learn training model that is proven to work for employers and employees. As a valuable workforce development and postsecondary education pathway that doesn't require prior experience or costly student debt, we are working to broaden apprenticeship opportunities across our states and territories. This includes expanding into industries and professions that have traditionally not utilized the Registered Apprenticeship model, as well as strengthening apprenticeship pathways in sectors already benefiting from this approach.

"In recognizing the 10th annual National Apprenticeship Week, we celebrate the more than 27,000 Registered Apprenticeship programs and the millions of Americans who have completed an apprenticeship or are actively apprenticing right now."
