Dear Campus Community,
The University is currently experiencing smoke blowing over the campus from a slow-moving brush fire occurring 1.2 miles southeast from the campus off Potrero Road. The brush fire is currently being tackled by helicopters.
There is no imminent threat to the campus and University personnel are monitoring air quality around campus as it continues to fluctuate, as well as closing air vents to campus buildings. N95 masks for voluntary use will be available at Islands Café, Placer Hall and student housing.
Out of an abundance of caution, classes will continue virtually today with modified campus operations. Student services will be offered virtually. Outdoor events scheduled for today have been cancelled.
Faculty have been asked to contact students for the status of their classes.
Designated personnel will be contacted by supervisors to report to campus as needed, and other employees should work remotely as applicable in collaboration with their supervisors.
Housing students should remain indoors as much as possible, close windows, and reduce any outdoor activities.
Dining services will continue to be open and available for housing students, as well as others on campus today.
Additional updates will be provided later today.
