Foreign Minister Gerardo Werthein held a meeting today with the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, at the San Martin Palace. The ministers highlighted the bond of friendship and the excellent level of bilateral relations existing between the two countries.
They emphasized the harmony of principles and values shared by both countries globally and highlighted the presence of a community of Hungarian origin of around 50,000 people in Argentina.
Furthermore, they reaffirmed their commitment to support instances of interregional cooperation between Latin America and Europe and addressed issues of common interest in the peaceful uses of energy. They also underscored the importance they attach to cooperation in the fields of culture and education.
Several instruments were signed at the meeting to give a renewed impetus to the bilateral relationship.
The two Ministers stressed the relevance of their meeting in the framework of the
commemoration of the centennial of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Argentina and Hungary, occasion which laid the foundation of the existing strong bilateral ties.
