WASHINGTON, D.C. - Joint Staff Spokesperson Navy Capt. Jereal Dorsey provided the following readout:

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr., spoke with Indonesia's Commander of National Armed Forces Gen. Agus Subiyanto today by video teleconference.

Gen. Brown stressed the importance of multinational collaboration throughout the Indo-Pacific region and citied the Super Garuda Shield Exercise as an opportunity to expand regional cooperation. Additionally, the military leaders discussed the strengthening of defense cooperation and the continuation of military modernization efforts.

The U.S.-Indonesia relationship provides an important stabilizing presence in the region, and the U.S. military looks forward to advancing its defense partnership with the armed forces of Indonesia.
