America’s Expanding Broadband Networks Continue to Grow: Central U.S. Pt. 2

As America targets efforts towards connecting every community to robust broadband - including the distribution of more than $40 billion in federal funds for building new networks - cable providers continue to do what they have always done: build out their networks to reach as many Americans as possible.

With network expansions continuing nationwide, here are a few more examples of projects that work towards the national goal of connecting every American. To learn about other projects highlighted in previous blogs, be sure to check out NCTA.com.

Oklahoma

Cox has connected 200 new homes to speeds up to 2 Gbps in Rogers County. The project is the first of several funded jointly by Rogers County and Cox Communications. The county contributed $1 million in American Rescue Plan Act funding, while Cox chipped in $2 million.

Kansas

Comcast is bringing its entire suite of Xfinity services to Hillsdale and Paola. The project will connect over 4,000 homes and small businesses to 1 Gbps service.

Nebraska

Midco is extending its network to Jamestown, putting about 110 miles of new fiber in the community. Once complete, the network will connect more than 9,500 homes and businesses to 5 Gbps symmetrical service.

Texas

In rural east Texas, Charter is currently building a significant high-speed broadband network across a wide swath of the state as part of its Rural Construction Initiative. The build is expected to connect an estimated 133,000 homes and small businesses and lay some 14,000 miles of new fiber.
